On Thursday the 9th July Swimsound hosted their annual Summer gala. This is an event which brings together all our advanced swimmers to participate in a team competition to conclude the year. The swimmers were split into teams with three team captains, Ian, Mark and Bryony. There were a host of races which ended in a freestyle and medley relay. When the final scores were added Mark and Bryony’s team had drew level on points. It was decided a canon relay was the best way to conclude the event. This event saw all teams and captains race one length freestyle. After a well fought race Marks team clinched the victory.
It was a great evening with Lily managing to break her own backstroke record in a fantastic race. We were joined by former teachers, Helen Shaw and Jack Lewis who were delighted to see the swimmers progression. Furthermore there was a coaches vs parents relay to end the evening to which the coaches finished triumphantly.
Swimsound would like to thank all their swimmers for working so hard in the event and a massive thanks to all the parents and family members who came down for support. We look forward to hosting a further gala next term, were Ian’s team will look for its revenge.
