Supercharged Annual Gala saw swim records smashed

Throughout 2023, our hard-working coaches have been training our talented intermediate lane
swimmers in their stroke techniques and racing skills, such as dives, turns and finishes, and these
swimmers had a chance to put all of their hard work to good use at our St Edward’s winter gala. We were
lucky enough to witness an afternoon of exceptional swimming, and most importantly incredible
support and teamwork.

Swimsound swimmers were split into three teams, led by our talented coaches Anna and Frankie,
both with extensive experience racing at national level, both at university, and Ian, owner
and head coach of Swimsound. Swimmers raced in both 25m and 50m events, covering all strokes
and finished off with some brilliant relays and individual medleys. The atmosphere of support and
pride carried all through our afternoon, ending with medals and certificates for all who participated,
with Ian’s team completing in first place with 42 points, Anna’s team in close second with 40 points,
and Frankie’s team walking away with bronze medals at 35 points.

We were exceptionally proud with our swimmers Niamh and Jack for breaking some Swimsound gala
records. Niamh swam an exceptional 18.41s 25m front-crawl, beating out our previous record of 18.96,
and Jack displayed an impressive 26.35s 25m breaststroke, also improving on our previous record of
28.96.

We were very impressed with all who came and participated, and we want to extend a massive
thank you to all friends and family who came and cheered, our coaches for their hard work
preparing these swimmers, and most importantly our Swimsound swimmers who came and gave it
their all. We are already looking forward to and preparing our next gala.
