September 2026 lessons are back!
We hope you’ve had a good summer holiday! We’re happy to welcome you back to Swimsound for our September Swimming Lessons! Here are five things you can look forward to at Swimsound this September:
1. Familiar faces added to our full-time team!

2. Our Rookie Lifeguard Course!
We are glad to share that our Rookie Lifeguard course will be continuing this September! Over the past year, we have shown that there is more to just swimming than doing laps in the pool. Our Rookie Lifeguard course at Calderstones has shown that no matter how good you are at swimming, there is something more to learn. So far, we’ve had a group of 15 fantastic swimmers work towards the RLSS Rookie Lifeguard Pool program. This includes skills from the Bronze, SIlver, and Gold awards. Here are some of the skills we’ve been working towards:
- Coil and throw a rope to a casualty and pull to the side
- Demonstrate Lifesaving Backstroke, Sidestroke, Breaststroke or Front Crawl
- Tread water, remove clothing, then swim 50m
- Climb out of deep water unaided
- Demonstrate fall-in, compact jump or shallow dive
- Demonstrate a Reverse and Standoff
- Rescue an unconscious casualty at depth in less than 2 minutes 30 seconds
- Demonstrate supported rescue breathing whilst waiting for help
- Demonstrate non-contact rescues
- Treat for shock
- Hand signals

4. Exciting Water Polo Lessons and Galas this term
We know that for our swimmers at SwimSound, creating fun and engaging lessons matters for their swimming journey to help them achieve their full potential. After working with a GB water polo player over the summer, it’s safe to say we are excited to carry on offering water polo sessions every term for our advanced classes!
We also pride ourselves at SwimSound to create the best opportunities for swimming to keep improving even at the highest levels. Therefore we look forward to our Christmas galas this year, where our swimmers will have the chance to show off their swimming speed as part of a team. These galas will be our biggest ever!

5. Ensuring our welcoming environment extends to all!
Making sure that every child feels valued is one of our main aims at SwimSound. We know how important it is for Children to have a safe, fun space to keep in their routine every week.
